Vietnam and Qatar are marking a significant milestone in their diplomatic relations as they celebrate Vietnam’s 81st National Day in Doha, underscoring the deepening ties between the two nations. The event, attended by high-ranking Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders, emphasized mutual cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, and energy.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep highlighted the robust development of Vietnam and its expanding international partnerships, particularly with Qatar. The two countries have been fostering diplomatic relations since 1993, with collaboration extending across industries such as labor, aviation, agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, and telecommunications.
The economic partnership between Vietnam and Qatar has shown notable growth, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $423 million in 2025. This increase reflects a strengthening business engagement and the opening of new investment opportunities. Both nations have expressed a desire to further enhance their economic ties and explore additional avenues for cooperation.
High-level exchanges have been instrumental in this relationship, including the visit of Qatar’s Prime Minister to Vietnam in October 2024. These visits have facilitated dialogues aimed at bolstering the bilateral cooperation and expanding economic partnerships between the two countries.
