Thailand clinched the bronze medal in women’s volleyball at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 by defeating South Korea 3-0 on Tuesday. The match, held at Park Arena Komaki, saw Thailand secure their victory with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, and 25-23, marking their third bronze medal in this event across four consecutive Asian Games.
The Thai team demonstrated resilience from the outset, overcoming an initial deficit in the first set where South Korea briefly led. Thailand’s effective offensive plays and strong serves allowed them to gain control midway through the set, culminating in a 25-20 win.
In the second set, both teams remained neck and neck until South Korea managed a slight lead at 11-9. However, Thailand’s strengthened attack helped them regain momentum, eventually securing the set at 25-19.
The third set was closely contested, with South Korea once again taking an early lead. Thailand fought back to equalize at 12-12, and the teams remained evenly matched until the final moments. A South Korean error at match point gave Thailand the set at 25-23 and secured the bronze medal.
This achievement continues Thailand’s impressive performance streak in Asian Games women’s volleyball, having previously claimed bronze in 2014, silver in 2018, and bronze again in 2022. The victory also ensures Thailand’s qualification for the women’s volleyball tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, following their triumph in the 2026 Asian championship.
