Police in Vietnam’s Tây Ninh Province and Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum provinces have committed to enhancing their collaborative efforts to maintain security and public order along their shared border. This agreement was reached during a conference held in Tây Ninh on Friday.
The meeting provided a platform for officials to review the outcomes of their recent cooperation in combating cross-border crimes, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, smuggling, money laundering, and online fraud. The four provincial police forces emphasized the necessity of direct communication and regular meetings to facilitate the swift exchange of information and the efficient resolution of cross-border criminal cases.
Among the strategies discussed was the strengthening of patrols and monitoring along border trails and crossings. This initiative aims to curb illegal entries and exits, which could potentially contribute to organized transnational crime. The provincial forces also plan to bolster their efforts against terrorism, arms trafficking, and high-tech crime while addressing emerging non-traditional security challenges.
The conference concluded with the signing of a cooperation memorandum, which aims to reinforce the commitment of the involved parties to crime prevention and the maintenance of security and public order in the border regions. This memorandum underscores the importance of joint efforts in tackling cross-border criminal activities and enhancing regional safety.
