Patrick Achi, the President of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire, commenced an official visit to Hà Nội on August 23. The four-day trip, which concludes on August 26, was arranged at the invitation of Vietnam’s National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn. This visit coincides with the recent commemoration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire, celebrated last year in October 2025.
During his stay, Achi is scheduled to engage with high-ranking Vietnamese officials, including the Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm. Moreover, he will partake in discussions with National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn. The agenda for these meetings is set to emphasize enhancing parliamentary cooperation and boosting economic and trade relations between the two nations.
Vietnamese authorities have highlighted that this visit demonstrates a mutual interest in deepening bilateral relations and exchanging legislative experiences. The trip marks a continued effort in fostering ties, as it is noted to be the second visit by a head of Côte d’Ivoire’s legislature to Vietnam in the past three years.
The discussions between the two countries are anticipated to open new avenues for collaboration, building on the existing diplomatic foundations. Both nations are looking to leverage this opportunity to strengthen their partnership, which has evolved significantly over the decades.
