Vietnamese President To Lam commenced a four-day state visit to Singapore on May 28, aiming to bolster bilateral relations and advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established between the two nations in 2025. This visit marks a significant effort to deepen cooperation in various sectors.

During his stay, President Lam is slated to engage in talks with key Singaporean figures, including President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. Their discussions are anticipated to center around enhancing economic relationships, boosting investment, and fostering collaboration in technology and regional matters.

A prominent feature of President Lam’s visit is his keynote speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue, a crucial platform where he will articulate Vietnam’s foreign policy vision internationally for the first time since taking office in April 2026. This address is expected to highlight Vietnam’s strategic priorities and its role in regional dynamics.

In addition to diplomatic meetings, the visit underscores a commitment to expanding cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. This is exemplified by the Vietnam-Singapore Tech Connect Initiative. Both countries are also focused on advancing the next phase of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP 2.0), which aims to integrate smart technologies, sustainability, and green energy solutions to attract high-value investments.

The visit signifies the strengthening strategic and economic ties between Singapore and Vietnam, as they seek to collaborate more deeply across multiple sectors. This partnership is expected to pave the way for future growth and mutual benefits, reflecting the countries’ shared vision for a prosperous and interconnected regional community.
