Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire are poised to deepen their bilateral relations, focusing on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, and multiple strategic sectors. Vietnamese leader Tô Lâm emphasized the importance of this growing partnership, particularly highlighting that in 2025, Côte d’Ivoire became Vietnam’s largest trading partner within Africa. He advocated for a broadening of trade relations, encouraging diversification beyond staple goods like cashew nuts and rice.
The Vietnamese government is promoting collaboration in a variety of fields, aiming to attract investment in areas such as agriculture, telecommunications, oil and gas, digital transformation, cybersecurity, infrastructure, mineral processing, and the burgeoning electric vehicle industry. These sectors represent key opportunities for both nations to benefit from shared resources and expertise.
In turn, Côte d’Ivoire has shown a strong interest in drawing Vietnamese businesses into its markets and expanding collaborative efforts throughout the West African region. This ambition reflects a mutual desire to capitalize on the economic potentials available through a strengthened partnership.
Beyond economic ties, both countries are exploring ways to enhance cooperation in other areas. Discussions include strengthening parliamentary exchanges, advancing educational initiatives, improving workforce development, and fostering people-to-people connections. These efforts aim to build a more comprehensive and resilient relationship between the two nations.
