Vietnam and Laos Enhance Collaboration on Governance and Anti-Corruption

Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng underscored the importance of cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the fields of inspection, auditing, and anti-corruption during a recent meeting with senior Lao official Vanhxay Phongsavanh in Hanoi. The leaders focused on bolstering collaborative efforts as both nations work towards achieving new developmental goals.

Prime Minister Hưng highlighted the necessity of enhancing national governance by reinforcing discipline and transparency, and tackling corruption and wasteful practices. He emphasized the significance of sharing experiences, conducting personnel training, and collaborating on addressing complaints, refining institutions, and improving inspection and supervision systems.

Both countries agreed on the importance of improving coordination in identifying and addressing cases with cross-border elements. They also plan to expand the use of information technology and digital transformation within their inspection and auditing processes, which is seen as crucial in modernizing these efforts.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Vietnam and Laos to uphold existing cooperation agreements and to further develop the enduring relationship between the two neighboring countries. By fostering closer ties in these critical areas, both sides aim to achieve greater transparency and efficiency in governance.
